Draft Environmental Impact Statement Comments on Millennium Coal Bulk Terminals Longview

coaltrainThe proposed Millennium Coal Bulk Terminal project must be denied in light of the major and unavoidable consequences for the people of Longview, rail-line communities, and the Columbia River identified in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). DEIS comment period wrapped June 13, 2016. Washington Department of Ecology received over 257,000 comments calling on the Ecology and Cowlitz County to reject the proposed coal export terminal in Longview, WA.

Read the technical comments submitted by tribes, municipalities, experts and organizations:

“The numbers are in. Approving this project would mean more rail accidents, endless traffic backups in rail-line communities, coal dust pollution, and thousands of massive bulk carriers in the Columbia River. Worst of all, it would dramatically increase the state’s contribution to global warming. It’s time for state and county leaders to listen to the public and deny this project,” said Jan Hasselman, Power Past Coal coalition’s lead attorney from Earthjustice.
