Join Columbia Riverkeeper for an informative talk, Hot Water, Fish Kills, & the Future of Salmon, at Slopeswell Cider in Hood River as a part of the organization’s “Love Your Columbia Event Series.” At this event, grab a pint of Slopeswell’s finest cider and enjoy complimentary appetizers. Come early for a raffle with door prizes. Event is free and open to the public.

WHY: Last summer hundreds of thousands of heat-stressed sockeye died before reaching their spawning grounds. Columbia Riverkeeper shares the story of a crisis decades in the making. How did scientists predict the temperature crisis on the Columbia and Snake rivers? Is this the tip of the iceberg? Can regulators take actions today to prevent future temperature-driven fish kills on the Columbia and Snake?

WHO: Opening remarks by Hood River Mayor Paul Blackburn. Featured speakers include Environmental Modeler, Matthew Shultz, MESc Yale 2016, and Riverkeeper Attorney Miles Johnson.

WHEN: August 24, 2016, doors 6:00pm, presentation starts at 6:30pm (no minors after 9:00pm).
