We need your help to stop the world’s largest natural gas-to-methanol refinery in the small town of Kalama, Washington.
At last week’s Shoreline permit hearing, the county’s Hearings Examiner (permit decision-maker) encouraged the Port and Northwest Innovation Works to propose additional mitigation and to re-design their proposed methanol refinery at the Port of Kalama to avoid shoreline areas on the Columbia River.
Their response? The Port of Kalama proposed ‘protecting’ about 90 acres of wetlands north of the project site. And NWIW re-drew the refinery footprint; although the proposal would still encroach into protected Columbia River Shorelines.
The County Hearing Examiner is taking public comment on the changes to the Kalama Methanol Refinery proposal until 5 pm on February 7. You can comment here.
