Tomorrow, April 12, 2016, is the biggest day yet for stopping the largest oil-by-rail facility in North America.  The Port of Vancouver will hold a critical public hearing tomorrow to decide whether to amend its lease for the Tesoro Savage project.  Your presence and your voice can help persuade the Port to end the lease.

Port of Vancouver Meeting About Lease for Tesoro Savage Oil-By-Rail Terminal

  • Tuesday, April 12, 9:30 AM – 9 PM.
  • Public testimony begins at 10:30 AM. Come anytime. Speakers selected via a lottery system.
  • Gaiser Hall, Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way

The oil terminal lease says either party can terminate the lease if Tesoro fails to obtain all permits by August 1, 2016. Tesoro failed: it is not on schedule to obtain permits. Tesoro is trying to persuade the Port of Vancouver to grant a 2-year extension to obtain permits. Tell the Port to reject the extension, and terminate the lease!

The Port’s staff recommended denial of the extension.  And our legal analysis shows that the Port must act before August 1 to terminate the lease.
