EVENT: Join Us At Patagonia To Learn More About Oil-By-Rail!

Oil Trains Still Threaten Portland and the Columbia River Gorge

On October 27, 2016, at doors at 7:00 pm, panel at 7:30 pm, Riverkeeper will join with our Stand Up to Oil coalition partners at Patagonia’s Portland store to present an update and panel discussion on the risks posed by dangerous oil trains in Portland and the Columbia River Gorge. Despite the overwhelmingly obvious danger posed by oil trains in the wake of the Mosier oil train derailment, fire, and spill, the oil and rail industry continue to ship unit trains of oil down the Columbia River. Worse, the rail and oil industries seek new infrastructure to expand oil-by-rail traffic.  Please join us on October 27th to learn more about how you can help.

Panelists:

  • Alysia and Elke Littleleaf, members of the Warm Springs Tribe who have spoken out against oil, coal, and Nestle development in the Columbia River Gorge. Alysia and Elke recently took time away from their fly fishing guide business to visit North Dakota in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux’s protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
  • Ryan Rittenhouse with Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Mia Reback of 350 PDX, and Jasmine Zimmer-Stucky of Columbia Riverkeeper to discuss the latest developments with the oil trains in the Gorge and Portland’s effort to ban new fossil fuel infrastructure.
