September member spotlight: Tracy Prescott MacGregor & Scott MacGregor

Tracy Prescott MacGregor and Scott MacGregor organized and hosted a Farm to Table dinner to Save Port Westward on Sept. 6, 2014 at their farm near Port Westward, Columbia County Oregon. Our hosts opened their home and hearts to us all. The passion and dedication to place, expressed in a myriad of ways, is an inspiration to all of us at Columbia Riverkeeper.

The MacGregor Farm raises goats, ducks and a vast produce garden that sustains them year round. The chefs crafted the meal over several days with all local ingredients. So many volunteered to bring all the details together, not just the day of. What an incredible expression of the power of the community to create and protect.

The Port Westward area is threatened by industrial development for coal and oil exports, and Riverkeeper staunchly supports local efforts to protect salmon habitat and family farms in this area. This region is being targeted for massive dirty fossil fuel development, but local farmers, fishermen and community members are standing up for the health of the region and the river and we are proud to support them. Thank you Tracy & Scott for your hard work!
