Stop LNG in Oregon: Join us to learn what you can do!

Upcoming Events to Fight Against Fracked Gas Exports:

  • Thursday, April 7, all day.
Call Dept. of State Lands Call 503-986-5224 and ask Director Paul to DENY PERMITS for Jordan Cove LNG and its pipeline. This project would harm salmon, destroy oyster beds, and pollute 400 waterways and streams across southern Oregon. A denied permit from the Oregon DSL would stop the Jordan Cove project and set good precedent to deny permits for Oregon LNG and any other future pipelines and LNG facilities proposed in Oregon. Let us know how your call went here.
  • Thursday, April 7 at 7pm: Tim DeChristopher Lecture, First Unitarian Church, 1211 SW Main St, Portland. This will be an amazing event and very well attended. We are looking for a few people to table at this event, pass out LNG buttons, and help spread the word about LNG. Wear red to show your opposition to fossil fuels.
  • Tuesday, April 12 at 10am: State Land Board Meeting, Department of State Lands, 775 Summer St. NE, Salem. This is one of the few pubic events where we can send an in-person message to Gov. Brown and other key decision makers on LNG. We are hoping to pack the meeting with 50 No LNG activists. Carpools available from Portland and Astoria. Please RSVP.

Stop LNG in Oregon this Spring

By Elizabeth Chiaravalli, LNG Organizer

The battle to stop fracked gas exports through Oregon took a huge step forward last week when the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) denied the Jordan Cove LNG terminal in Coos Bay. We need your help to ensure that both Jordan Cove LNG in Coos Bay and Oregon LNG in Warrenton are dead in the water!

Oregon is at an important decision making point in the fight against LNG. Now that FERC has made its decision, Columbia Riverkeeper and other allied groups are urging Governor Brown and key state agencies to deny the two LNG terminals in Oregon once and for all.

This is where you come in. The residents, landowners, farmers, fishers, and, oyster farmers, all along the pipeline routes and living near the terminals do not want these dirty, dangerous, destructive fracked gas export projects! These largely rural communities have been organized for 11 years in an unwavering voice against LNG. However, they need their voices amplified by people who can easily get media and political attention.

Portlanders, in coming months there are many ways you can engage in the LNG fight. Please look at the upcoming events, below, and pick two that seem fun for you. There are opportunities to do art, listen to the blues, collect stories, and directly talk to key decision makers, all while keeping Oregon LNG-free.
