The oil terminal proposed by Tesoro and Savage companies is unprecedented and reckless. At 360,000 barrels per day, the project would ship almost half as much crude oil as the Keystone XL Pipeline. This “pipeline on rails” would bring four or more mile-long trains carrying explosive crude oil through Spokane, the Columbia River Gorge, and Vancouver. When oil trains derail, they often spill, explode, and ignite. Over a dozen oil train derailments since 2013 have fouled rivers, sickened neighbors, and prompted evacuations.  Most tragically, an oil train derailment in Lac Megantic, Quebec killed 47 people in July 2013.

You can add your voice to the growing consensus against the Tesoro-Savage oil terminal. Tesoro’s proposal has drawn opposition from Columbia River tribes, local longshoremen, firefighters, business leaders, health professionals, climate activists, neighborhood associations, faith leaders, the City of Portland, the City of Vancouver, and a clear majority of Vancouver’s voters.

Now, Washington’s Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) has released its draft review, and we need your help to make sure that Governor Inslee and EFSEC reject the largest proposed oil-by-rail terminal in North America.

We are at a critical moment in the fight to protect Vancouver and the State of Washington from exploding oil trains – and we need you to join us on January 5 & 14, 2016!
