Public Comment Period: DEQ draft 401 Water Quality Certification for Ambre Energy »

August 1st, 2014: [ July 30, 2014 12:00 pm to August 25, 2014 6:00 pm. ] Using the power of the Clean Water Act, DEQ is reviewing the water quality impacts of Oregon’s only remaining coal export proposal and will approve or deny a 401 Water Quality Certification permit for Ambre Energy. Without a 401 Water Quality Certification from DEQ, Ambre Energy cannot receive the federal permits for coal export. Denying 401 certification would stop the project in its dirty tracks.

Columbia Riverkeeper is committed to preserving clean water for citizens, farms and salmon. For the past few years, much of our energy has focused on the Lower Columbia Estuary region at rivermile 53, known as Port Westward. This area is being targeted for massive dirty fossil fuel development but local farmers, fishermen and community members are standing up for the health of the region and the river and we are proud to support them.
