What if you could stop tons of pollution?

What if you could stop the equivalent of 754,000 gas-guzzling cars from polluting our air every year?
You can. By becoming a Columbia Riverkeeper supporter, you will go head-to-head with TC Energy, the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline and backer of the GTN Xpress pipeline expansion proposal.
If approved, the GTN Xpress pipeline expansion would be the equivalent of adding 754,000 cars to the road every year and would severely hinder the West Coast’s ability to meet important climate goals.
The existing Gas Transmission Northwest pipeline moves fracked gas from Canada through Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and California. TC Energy’s proposed “GTN Xpress” project would significantly expand the existing pipeline’s capacity.
Riverkeeper’s staff includes experts on environmental laws and public participation. Columbia Riverkeeper donors support strategic attorneys, experienced policy advocates, trusted community organizers, and creative communications specialists. As a supporter, you are an important part of our team working to outsmart and outmaneuver the fossil fuel industry.
Donor support is critical. Please consider making a gift today. With your support, our staff will:
- disclose fossil fuel industry secrets to the public by filing public records requests;
- advocate for a just transition from fossil fuels by lobbying elected officials and getting the word out in the media;
- engage with and center impacted community members; and
- support the people whose health and communities are targeted by high-impact development by taking polluters to court.
What if you could stop a refinery that would be one of the top climate polluters in the State of Oregon?
You can. Donate today to support Columbia Riverkeeper’s team as we unite river communities to take on the NEXT Energy’s refinery, proposed in the Columbia River Estuary.
At 1.15 million tons of carbon pollution each year, a proposed non-conventional diesel refinery, NEXT Energy, would be one of Oregon’s largest emitters of greenhouse gas pollution. A large portion of this pollution comes from fracked gas used to make hydrogen.
Bottomline: Preventing new fossil fuel infrastructure is a critical task to protect our climate. If fossil fuel corporations build new infrastructure—shipping terminals, pipelines, refineries—they will lock us into decades of fossil fuel use at a time when we must rapidly move toward clean energy and fewer petrochemicals.
Our work is not done, but we’re well-positioned to win. Why? We’re building on over 15 years of victories and movement building fighting climate-destroying fossil fuel infrastructure.
Your support is critical to bring home the ultimate victory: a fossil-fuel free Columbia Basin. Please donate to support our efforts to tackle the climate crisis.
