Reporting Procedure

Investigation and Response Procedure

To file a complaint or raise a concern, provide a written notice to the Non-Discrimination Coordinator within 90 days of the incident. Additional time will be considered if access issues impeded the ability to respond. The Non-Discrimination Coordinator will provide a written acknowledgement of receipt to the person who submitted the complaint. All complaints and reports will be impartially investigated within 90 days unless an extension is warranted. Details of the complaint and investigation will be kept confidential to the extent possible, consistent with the need to conduct an adequate investigation. This may include engaging a third party to investigate. The investigation may include individual interviews with the parties involved and, where necessary, with individuals who may have observed the alleged conduct or may have other relevant knowledge. Individuals who have made a complaint should immediately make a further complaint should the alleged discrimination reoccur.

The outcome of the investigation will be shared in writing with the person who filed the report or complaint. If warranted by the investigation, prompt, appropriate corrective action will be taken. An appeal may be requested in writing to the Executive Director within 30 days of receipt of the written outcome. The Executive Director will respond within 30 days with a decision to reopen an investigation or not.

Protection Against Retaliation

Columbia Riverkeeper prohibits retaliation in any way against any person because that person has made a good-faith complaint pursuant to this policy or has participated in an investigation of such conduct.
