For years, Zenith Energy has put our communities and our environment at risk. Now Zenith has a dangerous plan to expand its operations in Portland, increasing the threat of harm.
Dear Oregon Department of Environmental Quality,
I urge you to deny the Air Contaminant Discharge Permit for Zenith Energy. This proposal will result in more harmful pollution, more explosive trains through our communities, more hazardous tankers in sensitive marine and estuary ecosystems, and continued handling of large quantities of dangerous fuels. Zenith’s plan is likely to bring more harm to the climate and marginalized communities.
Do not allow Zenith to use the cover of “renewable” fuels to expand its operations and increase the threat of harm to our communities and environment. “Renewable” fuels carry many of the same risks as conventional fuels, and the increase in throughput will result in an increase in some harmful emissions on site.
Zenith’s extensive history of more than 20 violations clearly illustrates a pattern of noncompliance. Our communities deserve better. Please use your authority to fulfill your mission to be a leader in restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land and water. We are counting on you to do the right thing—deny Zenith’s air permit.
